While I was visiting some family in Michigan, I got an E-mail telling me I was placed in a host family!
I'll be living in Stemwede which is in Nordrhein-Westfalen with about 650 people! I will be living on a farm with a host mom and dad and two siblings who live at home. The oldest attends a university in Bremen and the second is taking an internship in American while I'm over there. They manage their own Hayhotel and an Erlebnishof. I am just so excited to live in rural Germany!

The family lives in Stemwede-Niedermehnen, a small village with approx. 650
inhabitants that is located near Bielefeld in Western Germany. They live on a farm, where they
run a ‘hay hotel’. The father spends his free time reading, inline skating or fishing.
The mom runs the hay hotel and manages the family. In her free time she likes reading funny
books and working in her garden. The oldest is not living at home anymore, but often there at
weekends, she likes spending time with her friends. The next is dancing in a jazz-group and
engaged in a YMCA children’s group. She likes reading and spending time with friends. The next
reads a lot and likes watching films. The brother is caring for the animals on the farm" --Straight from my placement e-mail! (:
And in case anyone remembers, I still have a boyfriend living in Chemnitz. Yes, I am sad that I'm not really close by. But, I know I can make trips to him and his family and he can make trips to me. He starts University next semester to study to be an elementary school teacher! Cute, right? :D
