You know what is just crazy? Knowing I'm going away for a year. It's no longer "next year" or "in several months" it's "In less than 80 days".. It's a weird feeling. I'm so excited about this journey I'm about to be taking, but at the same time, my life is about to completely flip.
I have such a full summer. I am spending two weeks in Michigan, four weeks at the Georgia Governor's Honors Program in German, then I'm off to Germany! It's crazy knowing I'm home for only six more weeks..
Don't think I am not happy, because I'm so crazy happy! I wake up thinking about this trip and fall asleep thinking about this trip. This is the kind of thing I've been longing for for many years..
Prepping...
So CBYX is emailing out the newsletters and will be sending out the pre-departure information pretty soon. So I have been e-mailing my school counselor, planning my travel, and planning a lovely going-away party (:
School Credit
I feel pretty fortunate to have a counselor who's been really supportive. She was really involved in helping me find out if I can get credit for the classes I am taking while in Germany. Turn out, as long as I can get an official grade report** from my school, the credits can transfer! So worst case scenario, I have to take an extra semester or year here, if I can't get a report or if I do poorly in my classes.
That's really all for this update! I'll be writing more as I find out more and have more plans solidified (:
**UPDATE** I met a girl at camp who did CBYX a couple years ago and got credit from her school. If the German school can sign and notarize your printed grade reports, most schools in the states will transfer them. So ask your councelor, International Welcome Center leader (just like in Cobb county, GA) about whether this is an option. Then don't forget to talk to the host school beforehand as well so they know what you are trying to do!
